As Old Hat Creative continues expanding the range of creative services and strategic support provided to its clients, its physical footprint is growing, as well.
Branching out from its headquarters in Norman, Okla., where it began operations 19 years ago, Old Hat is establishing a full-time presence in New York City with the appointment of Hud Oberly as Managing Director, Business Development.
Oberly brings an impressive background in the development of brand campaigns and social media content to his role with Old Hat, where he will be responsible for leading business development and supporting clients in the heart of America’s thriving sports industry.
Oberly is the Founder and Creative Director of Here’s To You Creative House, an independent fashion brand based in Brooklyn that creates clothing and visual media about the creative artist experience, with a focus on New York City and Indigenous creative communities. He has also served as Creative Director for Urban Native Era, building marketing campaigns and designing clothing collections to increase the visibility of Indigenous peoples.
A graduate of the University of Colorado, Oberly serves on the Board of Directors and is Treasurer of Native Forward Scholars Fund, the largest direct scholarship provider to Native students in the United States. During its 50-year history, Native Forward Scholars Fund has empowered more than 20,000 students from over 500 Tribes in all 50 states by providing more than $350 million in scholarship dollars and support services for undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees. Oberly is a citizen of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma and a descendant of the Comanche Nation and Caddo Nation of Oklahoma. He has been a featured speaker at the United National Indian Tribal Youth (UNITY Inc.) Annual Conference and National Indian Education Association Annual Youth Conference.
Oberly is not new to Old Hat, having completed an internship with the agency in 2018 while working toward his undergraduate degree from CU.
“When I think about the future of the sports industry and the direction of creative services in our country, I am extremely encouraged because I know there are leaders such as Hud ready to take the baton and reimagine everything that is possible,” said Old Hat Founder Zac Logsdon. “Hud’s vision and talent is surpassed only by his commitment to client service. We are extremely pleased to welcome Hud back to our starting lineup and cannot wait for our clients to benefit from his talent and creativity.”
