Twitter Me This

I NEED ALL OF YOU TO STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND LISTEN!

Besides being a very funny prelude to Ron Burgundy's cannonball, this is also how I've started to feel about most of the news out there lately. Especially the "news" via Twitter. I told someone recently that Twitter is like shouting on the internet, which I kind of liked initially. Shout long enough though, with enough people joining in, and eventually it's all white noise. It's also why I've decided to suspend my Twitter activity indefinitely.

My online activity will be going the way of John Mayer from here on out. (Albeit with slightly less followers left behind.) My account will still be open, but don't look for any information coming from this end. I don't really feel like I've had that much important to say on Twitter and I spent too much time digging through nonsense to come across the random information I found useful.

I've also decided it doesn't mean I won't log on every once in awhile to see what's up with people I've followed up till now. It just means I won't have Tweetdeck, Tweetie or any other twitter client sitting on my desktop to be kept up on. Others have said that if you really want to get the most out of Twitter you should use it more to listen rather than just waiting for your turn to talk. Good advice in an actual, physical conversation as well, I might add.

So thanks to those of you who actually thought I was worth following up until now. I wish you the best of luck on your Twitter adventures. Please don't despair if you were one of those who was hanging on my every tweet. I'm sure you'll find someone else to amuse you 140 characters at a time.

In the meantime you can still find me here on the Old Hat blog and a few other places around the interweb.

For those of you who could care less about this announcement, I agree with you. I am not that important. (Except to my Mom. And she still calls me on the phone.) :)

You will be missed, sir. However, I understand and respect your decision.
