Hey everyone, happy Thursday! I expect for some of you readers out there that this is the last post you'll read this week, since you're probably scrambling for an excuse to get Friday off to extend your Labor Day weekend.
I'm back in the office for a couple of days before heading out again early next week to shoot some more stuff for another client. It should be fun so stay tuned for more videos and updates from the road next week. I'm looking forward to it.
• I recently canceled my Netflix subscription. :( This month is the month of the new price increase so I decided to pull the pin. However, I'm not that sad really.
As an Amazon Prime member I get access to their growing library of movies and tv shows. Admittedly it's not as good as Netflix's selection...yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see Amazon really improve their streaming video options in the near future. When you combine that with Hulu, YouTube and the free online video from a variety of major networks, it really is plenty of TV in my opinion.
• So what am I doing with the extra $10 a month I'm now saving from not having Netflix? Well of course I couldn't possibly be putting it into savings! You readers are so silly. Last month I started subscribing to the Premium version of Spotify.
I've talked about Spotify before...I think. But if you haven't heard of it, it's an online music service that allows you to search and listen to any song you can imagine. Spotify doesn't just exist on the web though, it's a desktop application. The Premium version allows you to download tracks and listen to them while you're offline. You can also sync tracks to the Spotify iPhone application and listen to those offline as well. So basically for $10 a month you can have access to any song, anytime, anywhere.
I pretty much consider my days of buying CD's or singles to be over. Sure, you have to keep subscribing to the service to have all of this music at your fingertips, but you can literally get any song, album or artist and have access to it for $10. Check it out here.
• While we were in Chicago yesterday saying hello to the fine folks at Northwestern we saw this happen. I'm not talking about driving by it afterward either. I saw this car go airborne. Crazy stuff. Make sure you always wear your seatbelt kiddos.
