Old Hat is gearing up for NACMA and a busy summer. I'm doing the same on a personal level as I get ready to take a bit of vacation time next week.

One of the things I'll be doing is participating in the wedding of a friend who happened to attend school at one of the institutions we service here at Old Hat. I had a great time last year sending him iPhone pics of all the places we were shooting on the University of Notre Dame's campus.

This blog has been sneaking up on me lately. So lots of links and random stuff today...again.

My new favorite blog. Normally I really hate these Tumblr gif blogs, but this one is stellar. (Thanks Jake.)

• Do you like Instagram? What about Pinterest? Now you can combine your love for both with the new Pinstagram. Check it out here.

• Need some new graphics for your Facebook page? You know you do. Despite our very broad base of readers I'm comfortable putting these sweet graphics up that we recently did for the OKC Thunder. Check them all out here. (Props to Old Hatter Geoff on the design for these.)

I tweeted this last night but here it is for the blog crowd.

A couple of weeks back when I went to the Thunder practice facility to shoot their recent trade acquisition, Mr. Derek Fisher, they were also setting up for a TV commercial shoot.

The specifics were kind of hush-hush as to what it was they were actually shoooting, but apparently it was this commercial below. All I remember is the director continually calling for more smoke...

• I spent the past couple of days in Denver shooting footage for an upcoming commercial. One of the new things we did was work with the GoPro HD Hero2

We all see the world differently. Different life experiences, locations, adventures and attitudes shape how we interpret the environment around us.

One of the things I do in my job as a photographer is to try and help people see the world the way I see it. After all, that's what a photograph does. It's one person's interpretation of an event. One split second in time captured.

I didn't start taking pictures seriously until later in college. I'm not a photojournalist or a sports shooter. It took me that long to figure out how I wanted to shoot.

Some quick hits for this Tuesday.

• Yesterday the big news was Instagram. We're talking a billion big here.

Of course the fact that it was Facebook that ponied up so much money for Instagram wasn't received as a huge plus by lots of people. At least if you believe the internet.

If you want to get your photos out, just in case, then there are several services that will do it for you. Personally, I'm looking here first to get mine out.

The latest issue of Thunder Magazine is out so I thought I'd talk a little bit about some of the photography I shot for it.

Above is the fold-out, detachable cover. We've done fold out covers before but this one is cool because it's double-sided. The reverse side is below. This way you can pick your favorite poster and put up either the front or the back.

I just funded this project and I'll be anxiously awaiting my own Galileo.

The possibilities for a product like this are endless. I can't wait to use it on client shoots. We really are living in a pretty amazing/exciting time to be creative.

If you want the full scoop on this Kickstarter project you can check it out here.

And while I'm twiddling my thumbs and watching the calendar for my Galileo to show...I'll be watching this.

Over the last several years we've had the privilege of working with clients all across the country on a wide variety of projects. Periodically we get some cool swag in the mail or a client comes to visit and when that happens we try to document it.

Sometimes these photos include the entire office, other times whoever we can grab who's available. Usually I'm behind the camera and the shots are all lit very simply and (hopefully) consistently. But it's always a chance to get excited about what we do and who we do it for.

Here's just a small sampling of the past couple of years. Thanks to ALL of our clients past, present and future.

Today I'll be headed out to the Thunder practice facility to take some photos of the newest Thunder acquisition, Derek Fisher.

The setup is going to be identical to the last time the Thunder traded for a new guy. Below is a shot of our setup from back when I headed out there to take photos of Lazar Hayward.

I think people are excited to have Derek here in OKC. Just to give you a little idea of how the process for a shoot like this goes, here's a timeline of how it came about.

8:00 a.m. - Read rumors about Derek Fisher's acquisition by the Thunder.

Hey all, just some random musings today.

• Reportedly Apple's newest iPad sold over 3 million units since it's launch just a couple of days ago. We have an older iPad in the office that gets used occasionally for work stuff, but I don't know too many of my coworkers who have one at home. At this rate I think everyone is going to have one very soon.

• I haven't been this excited about a movie in a very long time. Ridley Scott is back directing some kick-ass sci-fi. Prometheus will be out this summer.
