This Week In Sports History

This Week in 1995- Gary Payton was the first NBA player to wear a pair of rubber gloves during a game.

Happy Friday everybody and May the Fourth be with you today. It's hard to believe we're already at the end of week 1 of HuMAYliation. Your support thus far has been pretty incredible and I'm excited for what you're going to see in the upcoming weeks if we keep up the pace with donations. It's like pledge month here at OH. Just substitute the traditional cool tote bag for a dude ordering food with his hand. Here are some fun facts about the HuMAYliations from Week 1 and some teasers for next week.

1. 90% of the time Jake honked it was at pretty girls.

2. Jared the pretty princess is a pretty big metal fan.

3. Dane is still talking with his hand and that voice.

4. Most of the office is refusing to eat french fries with Dane now.

Two weeks ago was a really interesting day of work at Old Hat HQ. I'm sure a lot of you have seen our remake of Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love" music video. Well here's some insight and a behind-the-scenes look at that shoot.

10 Things To Take Away From This Shoot

1. Dustin took on the persona of Burt Reynolds that day. Lots of gum chewing. I imagine wearing a dress, thigh highs, high heels and make up can make some dudes a bit uncomfortable.

2. Thigh highs were not made for really tall guys like Aaron. They were more like knee highs.

3. Robert really looked like Robert Palmer. Am I right or am I right?

4. Tricia only played the keyboard with three fingers. Now that's talent.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYBODY!! And a very happy College Baseball Opening Day!! We wrapped up production this week on a few Intro Videos that will be debuting today. I can't wait to share them with you in the following weeks. For now, I'll share a few extreme sport videos that I am loving. Be sure to watch them in their full screen HD glory otherwise you might make Dustin cry.

So, yeah, this first one is a Red Bull commercial, but it's shot beautifully and the continuity in the editing is great. I'm having a total video-nerd moment here. I'd like to thank Tracie (aka Liz Taylor) for her contribution to this commercial's creation, for her years of loyalty to the Red Bull brand.

Have you ever had a celebrity sighting that wasn't? I was 1-out-2 on celebrity sightings during our many many Old Hat on-location shoots this last year. We DID see Bobby Brown on our layover in Chicago en route to South Bend, Indiana. He was with some lady who wasn't Whitney Houston. It would have been more exciting if she had been there, but I probably would've been seriously disappointed if she didn't act anything like Mya Rudolph's impression of her on SNL:

Ahhhhh December. Tis' the season to take a deep breath after the busy busy busy season (that's how it was in the Video Dept this year). Turns out we have a treasure trove of video and photos from our travels. Self-pat-on-the-back for bringing the Flip Cam! Here's a little preview of the longer-form, dare I say "SERIES" of videos from our on-location shoots.

Wow it's the middle of November! Who knew? We've been busy little bees in the video department the last few months. And we have a lot of amazing work to share, but the winter sports are just getting underway and we don't want to ruin the surprise for the fans. It's been crazy, but awesome.

In the meantime, I wanted to share some of my favorite movie title sequences and end credits. They make my nerdy video mind so happy. Enjoy:

My creativity for a blog title is suffering a bit today. We're working on lots of basketball and hockey videos right now and all creativity must be reserved for them. Here's a new crop of videos since my last blog. Enjoy!

FINALLY! After weeks and months of work we have quite a few new awesome videos to share with the world. Lets get right to it.

Purely a Women's World Cup 2011 blog today folks interspersed with a few random Deb-thoughts. I have become fully-engrossed in the World Cup in Germany these last couple of weeks. Moreso than ever before and that's including the memorable 1999 WC with Mia Hamm and crew in America. My parents and I were in the family truckster that summer looking at colleges and listening to Neil Diamond and Whitney Houston cassette tapes.

Can you imagine the final moments of Team USA’s "Miracle on Ice" without sportscaster Al Michaels’ classic call “Do you believe in miracles? Yes!!” I very much doubt it. Can you watch it and not get a little overwhelmed? I doubt that too. There’s just something about a great radio or TV call that serves as the cherry on top of an already amazing play.

But what happens when you add a few more layers to it like amazing music and cutaway shots from different camera angles (close ups of players, coaches and fans)?
